In Matthew
14:27 (NIV): But Jesus immediately said to them:
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be
afraid.”
When we go through difficult times it is normal to be or
feel afraid. But, we always have to remember is that the Lord is just a prayer
away. In John 14:1 Jesus tells us: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe
in God; believe also in me.”
We never have or should carry
heartaches, disappointments and even betrayals. The Lord is our refuge. He is
the One we should and must trust at all times.
When we read the following
scriptures verses we find peace and safety.
Psalm 9:9:“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a
stronghold in times of trouble.”
Psalm 16:1:“Keep me
safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.”
Psalm 18:2:“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield
and the horn] of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Psalm 31:2: “Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.”
Therefore, when you heart
hurts, your emotions are in a mess and your nerves are rattled, slow down, sit
and talk to the Lord about your hurts, your feelings and your uncertainties. You
can even talk to Him about your doubts and about the times you failed to completely trust
Him.
After you shared with Him how
you feel, sit quietly in His presence and let His peace overwhelm your soul. Take
the time to listen what He is speaking to your heart and spirit.
At the end of the day,
every hard thing either makes us bitter or better. When we begin to see His
goodness reflected in the pleasant and painful things we encounter, we learn to
trust Him in and for every situation of our lives.
If we learned to stand firm
upon His word, trusting in His overwhelming goodness, His peace with fill our
soul and spirit and we will dwell in the peace that only the Lord can provide.
The Lord says
to you in Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t
be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will
strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
